SCULPT YOUR WAY TO A SUMMER BODY WITH PILATES AND GOOD NUTRITION

What is your ideal image of “Beach Body? ” Perhaps you are picturing Halle Berry in that orange bikini emerging from the ocean. Nothing is wrong with that but, let’s be realistic and talk about what the average human body can achieve through moderate exercise and nutrition  😉

With summer around the corner in the southern hemisphere, you are not alone if you’ve started daydreaming about peaceful beach days and tanning by the pool. Although there’s no quick fix for an overlooked fitness routine and correct nutrition, as a fitness expert I can offer you a few tips which will boost your confidence and bring you a sense of self-acceptance.

Sculpt your body with Pilates

Try and commit to 15 minutes of Pilates-style core exercise every day either as a stand-alone block or an addition to your workout. They’re done slow and focused so their toning effects are deep and fiery, think of them as meditation for the body.

Get your nutrition on point – Eat fresh, light, and not so late

Thankfully, with the summer heat, we tend to lose our appetites a little and it becomes easier to eat lighter meals. You will see a huge difference when adding a variety of fresh vegetables to your meals, but be sure to add a piece of protein of your choice – chicken, beef, fish or eggs. Preferably, partly cook the veggies (saute or blanch) to make it softer on the digestive system and while on this matter, identify the veggies that disagree with your stomach, you may find that they cause bloating try and eliminate these from your diet.

Don’t leave your supper until very late! Finish eating and drinking by around 7 pm so that by 7 am the next morning your body has had a nice rest through 12 hours of fasting.

Drink water – cliche?

I’m going to go further than just saying, drink water, this is because we must avoid dehydration, not only during exercise but throughout the day too. One of my favorite cold drinks is ice tea. I brew a regular tea that I enjoy, such as green tea, I then mix it with jasmine and allow it to cool in the fridge with a slice of lemon or cucumber. The best homemade ice tea!

Go and get yourself a nice swimsuit

Find one that fits your figure the best,  (do some research beforehand) in one of your favorite colors. A new colorful item will always bring excitement and perhaps inspire some commitment to your fitness journey 😉

Get your Mani and Pedi in order

That’s right! Readiness for summer is the whole package, wouldn’t you agree? Exfoliate to bring out your soft healthy skin, get a fresh haircut, use hydrating masks, whatever you wish, these small steps will help you feel extra beautiful.

It’s all about the vibe

Accept the fact that God intended on diversity in living things and so stop comparing yourself to others. We are all beautiful for what we have to offer in our own unique way. You reflect your inner vibe and people react to that vibe. If you feel sad inside and your friends sense that, they may get sad, if you feel energetic your colleagues may get excited and if you feel sick, people will get worried about you. Why not feel beautiful inside, and be happy and grateful for all the blessings around us and let the world be attracted by our beautiful, magnetic frequency?
